Change poem background
In the valley where shadows drape,
A morning's call to heartache's shape,
A warning lost to silence's keep,
In Aberfan, the mountains weep.
The clock struck still at 9:13,
A haunting pause, a fated scene,
Coal's dark tide, relentless, spurred,
As innocence was left interred.
The village quaked beneath the weight,
Of nature's grim, unyielding fate,
A school of dreams in light once cast,
Now echoes of its shattered past.
116 young souls, tender and bright,
28 lives extinguished in light's flight,
Marked in sorrow's solemn refrain,
Aberfan's pain, an eternal chain.
In silence gathers time’s embrace,
To honor lives and loss we face,
59 years, in hearts, they stay,
Aberfan remembered, every day.
Each grave a story, each name a song,
In memory's arms, they all belong.
