Change poem background
Eighty years, a journey vast,
With laughter that has rightly passed.
In museums, every word he reads,
For humor and knowledge, his heart pleads.
Piggyback rides in the pool’s embrace,
Holding breath in a water race.
RV travels, beach house stays,
Kidhood memories in endless plays.
Well-planned safaris, guides with keen eye,
Daddygrams sent from the sky.
Frog farts, jokes to light the mood,
Lasagna nights, oatmeal cookies—good food.
Annually southbound, friends to meet,
O’er sports talk and rice pudding, sweet.
Lemon meringue pie, he’d whip up for us,
In holiday glow, carving turkey’s fuss.
With meatball spuds, beans served with flair,
Raking leaves, driveway care.
Future insights, wisdom’s grace,
Knowing our friends in names and face.
The laughter, love, and travels shared,
For eighty years, a life well-dared.
Hello to the past and what lies near,
His legacy lives, forever clear.
