Change poem background
Beneath the open sky of endless blue,
A lone man rows in a round-bottomed boat,
Upon the water, 'neath Naimiota's tides,
Rocky islands rise where whispers float.
The wind's melody is a distant hum,
Air filled with bird cries and waves that play.
A hooded figure, with strands of red hair,
Moves towards a sound that leads him astray.
A song so alluring, with tones so sweet,
Calls him closer to its mysterious source.
Upon the rocks, water glistens and gleams,
Guiding him to where sirens chart their course.
Three forms await, their beauty draws him near,
Golden, green, and white hair cascade like streams.
Their voices weave a spell upon the air,
As they greet him with seductive schemes.
But this man, hooded, his face obscured,
Heart strong, unyielding, mind free and fierce,
Sees through their charm to their vile core,
The sirens’ song his spirit does not pierce.
Glistening scales and inviting smiles,
Sharp teeth and claws they veil in their guise.
His gray eyes steel, he stands to defy,
Their deceit exposed by the wise and the wise.
Slashing his axe, a double-bladed roar,
The sirens' shrieks echo on the breeze.
Teal blood flows upon the jagged rocks,
Their beauty shattered, a fate of unease.
Young Gnord, adventurer of merely eighteen,
Proved the allure of their devious thrall,
Could not sway a warrior with courage keen,
For he held strength and wisdom over all.
So, on that day, beneath the open sky,
It was the sirens who met their doom,
Their voices silenced, their charm undone,
By the young man whose heart they could not consume.
