Write a poem about loving someone but later figuring out the person loves your attention and not you and as time goes on, the intimacy goes down. The person promised to always be there but that was not the case. It was love of attention and not real love. How I have grown to despise who I have once loved
Change poem background
In twilight's glow, with tender grace,
I gave my heart to touch your face.
You promised me—a whispered vow—
To always be, to hold me now.
Yet shadows crept into the light,
Revealing truths that hid from sight.
The love you spoke was not for me,
But for the warmth of company.
The yearning gaze I thought I knew,
Was drawn to echoes passing through.
Attention's siren, not my soul,
Fed the hunger, none were whole.
Now distance grows where closeness died,
Inverted warmth where tears were cried.
Despised is now the cherished past,
A fleeting love not meant to last.
I stand in light, my sight restored,
Unswayed by hollow, empty chords.
For wisdom comes from lessons learned,
And love's true fire from ashes burned.
