Write a short, heartfelt poem that sounds like me: genuine, conversational, warm, and a little sassy. Use natural rhymes and a smooth, flowing rhythm without forcing the wording. Keep it personal and emotionally meaningful without being overly mushy, cheesy, or sounding like a greeting card. A little cussing is fine if it fits naturally. Focus on making the person feel seen, appreciated, and loved for who they are. Use simple but powerful words that hit emotionally without being overly dramatic. I want it to feel like something I'd actually write from the heart, with an ending that leaves an impact. This is for one of my best UK friends, Charlene is one of the sweetest souls you'll ever meet. She's selfless, kind, and always worried about hurting someone else's feelings, so she rarely speaks up for herself or asks for anything. She's also an incredible mom who does so much for her disabled son, yet still doubts herself and doesn't realize how strong and amazing she is.
I want to write her a short, heartfelt poem just because I love and appreciate her. I want her to feel seen and remind her of the beautiful person she is. Make it sound like me—natural, genuine, with a little sass and maybe some cussing. Not overly mushy or cheesy, but meaningful enough to make my sensitive, crybaby friend shed a few tears. 😂❤️
Change poem background
Charlene, you’ll worry you’ve said something wrong,
then carry someone else’s hurt all day long.
You’re quick to say, “Don’t worry, I’m fine.”
But you get to need things. You get to draw a line.
I see the love you give your boy each day,
how you learn what he needs, how you find a way.
Then you wonder if you’re doing enough—
mate, give yourself some credit. This shit is tough.
I wish you’d talk to you like you talk to me,
with all that kindness you give out for free.
You don’t have to be strong to have me on your side.
You can say you’re knackered. You can drop the pride.
And if you’re crying now, well, that tracks.
I love you, you soft sod. No taking it back.
Not for all you do, or how much you get through—
even with nothing left to give, I’d still choose you.
